In the summerhouse (Bornholm) we have a few old appletrees. The kids love the apples.
Nothing were more natural for the girls, than to jump out an early morning to collect a whole bag of apples. That took them 5 minutes to do. After that we had to stop an emerging watercrisis in the kitchen to avoid the drowning of apples in the sink.
Well – we managed to ge some excellent applejuice. Freshly presse by the girls and the new machine…..enjoy.

Had a photoshoot, when my cat decided to jump in. I had my gold reflector on the floor, when I suddenly had a chance to get a decent shot of the cat, lying on the reflector playing with my lens cap.
I used my 50mm F1.4 G nikkor lens, with the D300, and a SB-800 shot through a beautydish.

A few weeks back we went to watch a horse show. I brought the D300 with the 70-200 to do some snaps. This was my first go, at a show like this. I wondered a bit about what to do, but just ended up deciding to go with the fastets possible shutterspeed.
I had to rely on the VR as the light wasn’t the best. I had to go up in iso as well. I wanted a shutter around 1/400 as the slowest. So I had to push the body a bit. Most of the time I had to use 200mm. I think the camera and lens did very good.
All shots have been added a bot of contrast with levels adjustment. Nothing fancy, very easy. Here are a few snaps from around 150 goodies.

We just had a new cat. My daugther asked me to make a photo. What a great oppertunity
So while my wife was on work yesterday my two girls helped me to drag in some gear.
One softbo, one beautydish, 2 sb-800, background, silver reflector, su-800 and the d300 with 50mm 1.4G.
All shots where in ttl, f.8 or 9, iso 200 and shutter around 1/60.
The room was lighted by the 2 sb-800 as well as a big window light.

Last afternoon we went to our local beach. It is just a few hundred meters away. The weather was ok – so I grabbed my D300 with a 70-200 VR mounted.
That was a good choice…..as we entered the beach it was blowing quite a lot. A lot a movement in the sea. A bit misty as well. But the light was fantastic. The light was almost golden – giving the sea and sand a lot of life – and sparkle.
I just lifted the camera and fired away.
In a few minuttes I had captured 100 shots. I have picked a few for you here. I tried to had the shutterspeed around 1/250 with the VR on – to avoid any shake. I managed ok. Iso was around 320 – 400. Apperure was aroun 3.5 most of the time.

A few weeks back I was back at Bornholm, the family house. A lateafternoon I went to the beach with a flash and my trusted D300.
I had some fun shooting Julie with a single flash.
CLS-controlled flashe from left – as I recall it. No filters added. Post proces is pretty simple.
I used the vibrance button in CS4. Took it to -80 and then added some saturation. Did it twice. Then I added a vignette made with the rectangle tool – using a radius of 200 to round the edges. I then used a new layer with owerlay and punched out the middle. There you go

Around the house we have several places were we feed the birds. It is interesting to watch – and gives you good oppertunities for good shots. My only problem is th elimeted range Ihave in the 70-200VR. It is a fantastic lens – razor sharp, but a bit short for bird shots.
I wonder what to do about my missing mm. I might buy a converter – the 1.7 – or look for a used 300 – 400 mm lens. Extra mm – means a lot of cash. Perhaps a good prime could be what I am looking for. Any suggestions – please add them here as a comment!!!!
Well – here are a few shots from the bird feeders and from the small birdhouses around the house.
